TEACH CHILDREN the CONSEQUENCES of SHOPLIFTING

http://www.shopliftingisstealing.com/

Shoplifting across the country is on the rise. Of the 23 million shoplifters in the US, 25% are children under 18 years of age.

Shoplifting is a common element in the criminal history of countless inmates and drug addicts. Yet many young people view shoplifting as just a harmless game with no consequences.

But shoplifting is not harmless.

It impacts not only the child and the retailer, but also the family, law enforcement professionals, honest consumers and the community. It can result in the child having a juvenile record and limit their job opportunities. Juvenile shoplifters don’t usually think about these consequences before shoplifting. That’s why we’ve developed Shoplifting IS Stealing!™

Alarming Facts About Shoplifting

  • Shoplifters steal over $20 billion worth of goods from retailers each year.
  • Shoplifting is America’s #1 property crime.
  • 1 in 11 people shoplift. (There are approximately 23 million shoplifters in the US. )
  • 25% of these shoplifters are children. (That’s 5,750,000 children who are facing a life of crime.)
  • 55% of adult shoplifters say they started shoplifting in their teens.
  • 86% of kids say they know other kids who shoplift. 66% say they hang out with those kids
  • 47% of high school students have shoplifted within the past year.
  • Shoplifting often leads to more serious juvenile crime.
  • Shoplifting spans all economic and cultural conditions.
  • The vast majority of shoplifters are individuals who shoplift not because of financial pressures, but because of social, peer and personal pressure.
  • The costs related to shoplifting are absorbed by the honest consumer who pays higher prices to cover the loss of merchandise, loss prevention measures, etc.

Sources: National Association of Shoplifting Prevention; "Why Do Shoplifters Steal?" by Peter Berlin; USA Weekend, Oct 16-18, 1998; Today's Coverage, May 26, 1998; Retail Theft Trends Report: A Snapshot of America, by Read Hayes, 1998.

The Shoplifting IS Stealing!™ program offers a 20-minute CD or DVD supported by related materials to teach children the consequences of shoplifting. Research shows that successful shoplifting prevention is achieved through early intervention and through the integrated efforts of parents, law enforcement professionals, educators, retailers, churches, families, friends and honest consumers. Members of this Circle of Influence can have a profound effect on helping children understand the consequences of making a choice to shoplift.

Early intervention is critical to prevent shoplifting. That's why Shoplifting IS Stealing!™ targets children in grades 3 through junior high. The compelling story of Shoplifting IS Stealing™ is also suitable for other age groups. It has been successfully used with high school students…parent groups…service clubs… chambers of commerce…merchant organizations.

Shoplifting IS Stealing!™ offers two different programs

  1. FAMILY PROGRAM for parents, grandparents or others to use individually with children.
  2. COMMUNITY PROGRAM for organizations in the community, such as schools, law enforcement, libraries, service organizations, chambers of commerce, etc. to use with groups of children.

A 20-minute lesson - A lifetime of impact

Shoplifting IS Stealing!™ teaches viewers the cold, hard facts about the widespread, costly crime of shoplifting. The story unfolds through the eyes of 17-year-old Brian, a star athlete and good student who is in a holding cell after being charged with his fourth shoplifting offense. Because of the circumstances surrounding the latest offense, Brian is now facing adult court - and the possible ruin of his college dreams. Brian tells his cellmate how he got caught up in the spiraling web of juvenile shoplifting and how he landed in the holding cell.

Brian flashes back over four different shoplifting incidents beginning with the simple act of stealing candy when he was 11, giving in to peer pressure by stealing a CD when he was 12, stealing a necklace for a girlfriend’s birthday gift at 16 and finally at 17 being apprehended with a group of friends for stealing from a convenience store. The story includes the emotional, social and legal impact that these shoplifting incidents had on him, his friends and his family. The story teaches children (and adults) that:

  • Shoplifting is stealing – not a game.
  • Stealing is a crime with legal consequences.
  • Shoplifting can negatively affect their lives - resulting in embarrassment, court fees, fines, even a criminal record.
  • Shoplifting costs their parents, retailers, honest consumers and the community.
  • Teach children the consequences of shoplifting. Order today.

Shoplifting costs retailers and honest consumers over $20 billion a year in losses, loss prevention and increased prices. It can lead children down the path of juvenile crime. You are uniquely positioned to teach children the consequences of shoplifting.

Foreword

http://bookstore.balboapress.com/Products/SKU-000598342/Just-Believe.aspx

We are born with no prejudice.  We are born with no concerns.  We are born from a perfect existence where all of our needs are met.  And the first nine months of our being is such that we do not ask for anything.  Everything that we need is provided to each of us.  There is no conscious request made by anybody of lack; that one needs ten fingers and toes, a heart, or ears.  These elements are provided because we simply allow each to happen.  The womb is a perfect place.  It is a place of stillness and being.  It is a place of surrender.  It is our physical connection to the source.  And then there is birth.

As soon as we begin to crawl most of us began the journey of forgetting the source from which we came.  Those that are responsible for rearing us as children are supposedly much older and wiser.  And it is at this time they begin a systematic reformation of our consciousness from spirit-based awareness to physical-based dependency.  This progression has been labeled in the Western world as growing up and maturing.  Added to the transition from spirit to form is the experience of education.  Whether it is formal or not and under guise of promoting discipline and order, learning experiences such as traditional classroom settings promote another type of separation:  That one person has no connection to another.  We are made to sit quietly as individuals and to perform independently never learning, or better stated, remembering the skills of cooperation.  The brainwashing of our memories of the source and the insistence that each person is in competition with the next for attention and approval has produced the need for gifted teachers, intuitive counselors and spiritual healers.

Lisa Tarves came from the womb as each of us did.  She has experienced this world as each of us has.  And she will someday transition as each of us will.  Her path diverged from that which most of us take at a very early age.  She was fortunate as a child to have lived in an environment of openness.  It was then her gifts were permitted to flower by those that oversaw her wellbeing.  Maturing for her did not mean abandoning that connection that most of us want to recover, nor did it mean separating herself from others.  Maturing meant remaining connected to the source and becoming more inspired.

Inspiration manifests itself as a desire to serve others.  And Lisa’s calling is to help us remember the lessons we came into this existence knowing, and soon forgot.  Listening with more than her ears, seeing with more than her eyes, and feeling with more than her fingertips, she has led many on a path of discovery.  And this path to discovery is not the learning of anything new; it is the remembrance of that which each of us already knows.  This journey always begins with belief in one’s self.

Believe is a single word that best describes the energy and compassion we call Lisa Tarves.  This book is a physical representation of the life and love of a person that clearly incarnated to help us find our way.  Whether you are looking for affirmation of that which you know so well, or in need of tapping into what you have forgotten, this writing is for you.  On a more personal note, Lisa has been extremely important to me and my work.  It is as if I have found a long, lost friend.  In fact, I am sure we have been friends in many lives.  And, many more to come!

How Horrific Will It Be For The Non-Prepper?

Posted By Contributing Author On May 12, 2012 @ 3:44 pm In Emergency Preparedness | 596 Comments

This article has been made available by regular SHTFplan contributor Be Informed.

Editor’s Note: You have no doubt had your own set of issues dealing with friends and family members that simply don’t see the writing on the wall. The following article may serve to assist you in convincing those who simply don’t know, don’t want to know, don’t care, or have never even thought to contemplate. Some of the scenarios outlined below may be frightening, as they should be, because when it hits the fan millions of people will be thrown into desperation with no hope of a solution. Be Informed provides a variety of point-by-point details that may (and hopefully will) convince the non-prepared individual to at least insulate themselves with the basic necessities. The consequences for not doing so, as you’ll see, are severe and often deadly.

I have become personally so disenchanted with the way people fail to prep.  People still don’t understand how important it is to put away.  I have gotten into arguments over this and had cretins call me a fool because I put away food, water, and supplies.  I thought about this and the frustration that other preppers have with this laid back idiotic attitude that there is no need for preparation.  There are good people that just can’t/won’t start preparing. They have the money to do so, but just don’t want to.  Many have only seen what happens to non-preppers on TV, but it still doesn’t make an impact.

In this article I detail some hard core realities to show just how awful it will be for those that don’t prep. Every one of these scenarios is something that has occurred to the non-prepper throughout history.  While strong images come to mind, the purpose is to jar some people out of their inaction and into action before it is too late.

Preppers are good people and care much about those around them, and unless something does jar those around them that choose not to prep, their own survival chances could be reduced.  For every bit of food, water, ammunition, or supplies you sacrifice to the non-prepper, the fewer irreplaceable supplies are left for you and your family in a crisis situation.  It is hoped that the following can help certain people put into TRUE perspective just how horrific it will be for those that don’t prepare.

Here are the awful consequences for those refusing to prep.

As the world continues to decay at multiple facets, the common person has and continues to be lulled into a sense that everything is improving and will continue to for the distant future.  After all, to them unemployment has peaked out and will drop until everyone that wants to work will easily be able to find good paying work,  North Korea is no threat because all their long range “bottle rockets” fizz out,  sanctions will eventually make Iran give up their nuclear program, oil prices will start going down after June or so,  Europe will bail out Greece and Spain and everyone else,  and U.S. debt will eventually come under control.

After 2012 everyone that has prepared themselves will go back to more “sensible” lives.  “Good times are coming”, baseball season is here, let’s get back to watching some more crackerjack news.

It is amazing how people become good conversationalists with most others discussing all the gossip related news, while becoming mentally tranquilized into a totally deceptive state of denial of truly dangerous issues of the times.  It’s the blind leading the blind… right off the cliff.

Rather than dealing with harsh reality, people surround themsleves with easy to digest material that can be talked about without directly influencing anyone’s lives.  Meaningless chatter.  Even for those unwilling to even think to prepare for a societal catastrophic event, there is also no desire to even face the extreme possibility of a sudden loss of one’s employment.  A personal SHTF.

Look at some of the terrible personal pain experienced in America right now – and it hasn’t even hit the fan on a grand scale. Those people who have lived it up on credit, who failed to put much of anything away for a rainy day, who’ve lost their job, and who eventually lost their unemployment benefits are experiencing the first level of collapse. This is happening to millions of people in our own country, all around us, as we speak.

These Americans, who once enjoyed the luxuries that modern living had to offer, are now at their wits end, with very little hope for a return to their previous lives. They are no longer able to pay most or any of their bills. Many have to humiliatingly turn to others for help to pay for food, or worse, to obtain old, unhealthy and poor tasting food from locally funded food banks. Their credit cards are totally worthless. Many have been evicted from their homes and have uprooted their families to live either on the street, in tent cities, with relatives, or have been forced to live at homeless shelters, They’ve have had their vehicles repossessed, or simply can’t afford the gasoline anymore. Their living conditions often make it difficult, if not impossible, to look presentable for job interviews. For many, the life of stability they knew just a short while ago is gone, replaced with fear and a constant stress to the point of nervous breakdown.

A personal economic meltdown is confined to the individual or family, or at worst a few families.  The human civilization remains intact and so do society’s safety nets.

With food assistance, rental assistance, homesless shelters, and family to turn to, even the most destitute are almost always able to find some sort of help – however menial.

It is no wonder with these known assistance programs, then, that people have forgotten or never thought to consider what happens IF and WHEN human civilization goes through a strong enough SHTF event.  If that happens on a mass scale what happens to everyone that needs help that has not prepared ahead of time?  What happens when governments are in such total disarray or destroyed altogether that they can’t help even if they wanted to?

The media and others have portrayed the good people that sacrifice much if not all “luxuries” of life to prepare themselves and their family and friends for extreme times, as chicken littles.  Those who have made the choice to store up emergency food, water, and other necessities to avoid extreme life threatening risks, including suffering horribly during and after a widespread SHTF event, are laughed at and ridiculed often for “wasting” their lives on delusional paranoia.

But who is delusional? Those who see the signs around them and understand how vulnerable the system is, or those who believe that things never change, that politicians have their best interests at heart, and that if the worst happens the government will be there to provide everything they may need?

How many have considered the dire consequences of their failure to prepare in the event that the infrastructure and everything a country’s people depend on totally collapses?

The misery from long term unemployment and lack of money is like a walk in the park compared to the severe anguish and dangerous conditions that await those who have failed to prepare for the aftermath of a large scale cataclysm.  The “minor” problems of unemployment that seem extremely major and painful to most today should serve as a wake up call to what life will be like when something much, much worse happens – when those proverbial safety nets are no longer there to catch us.

Many preppers have become deeply frustrated at those around them, especially those that truly mean something to them, because they simply refuse to put away anything at all for emergencies.  The prepper is usually a person that cares a lot and it is often difficult for them to take a tough stance towards the people that they care about.  However, unless someone changes the habits of those people that fail to get ready, decisions will need to be made, and they won’t be easy.

The choice of what the prepared prepper should do will boil down to either either adding these people to their own circle or survival group and reduce the group’s safety, supplies and self sufficiency, OR, they will have to let the non-prepper fend for themselves.  This is a very personal choice, and each of us will need to decide based on our own morals, ethics and personal relationships.

As a last ditch effort, discussing the following scenarios with the non-prepper may help them understand what life will be like without what has sustained them so comfortably for so long.

This is the hard reality the non prepper needs to understand:

  • Without power the water company cannot get water to their faucets. Without water dehydration occurs within 24 hours. Dehydration causes much suffering before death.
  • Toilets in homes, unless they have an incineration toilet that still need power to work, don’t flush without water.  Where will they go to the bathroom and then where will they dispose of human waste?
  •  There will be no clean water available anywhere, especially in major cities, and they cannot live more than about three days without it.
  • Drinking dirty and polluted water will make them incredibly sick and accelerate the dehydration process.
  • Polluted water must be purified and that means having a good filter, bleach or other disinfectant, or fuel and something to boil water with.
  • Understand just how fragile the power and the infrastructure is that pumps water to the public. A breakdown in our power infrastructure or a cyber attack against utility systems will render them useless.
  • A single event can rapidly lead to a cascade of other events that would certainly collapse almost, if not, everything. This is why major snow storms, hurricanes or solar events in the past have affected millions of people in an entire region all at once.
  • A single, seemingly unimportant event may become quite terrible as its repercussions spread; this can include a far and away disaster.
  • Understand that the economies of the world are so interwoven that when one major economy falls it affects everyone.
  • Not having any food in the house means that if the stores are emptied suddenly in a bad enough situation that there will be no food available for a long period of time afterward. Recent history during disasters around the world has shown that stores can literally be emptied in minutes.
  • Think about how totally horrible the feeling of being very hungry is and what circumstances would cause one to be desperate enough to eat anything.
  • ALL stores can be closed instantly under martial law.
  • Understand that you may not be able to purchase anything after it starts, especially with any credit cards.
  • Understand the complexity of food and water distribution; breaks in these chains can stop anything from getting to the people.
  • What life will be like if no toilet paper is stored?
  • Understand that without light sources, the night will be pitch black, often with zero visibility.
  • There will be no communications, other than probably martial law type of instructions over the radio, that is if they have batteries for the radio.
  • Other than ham and shortwave radio, any information that is available will be sent out by the government as filtered propaganda that “they” want everyone to hear.
  • Without power consider what it will be like to not have any heat to stay warm, or air conditioned air to stay cooler – with no way of alleviating the situation.
  • Travelling will likely be by foot or bicycle, as their will be no fuel and roadways may be blocked.
  • Realize that ANY travel outside of the home or neighborhood will be extremely dangerous as ANYONE who moves becomes a target
  • Non preppers will be pushed way beyond their limit because of lack of supplies.
  • The non prepper must realize their government does not really care about them individually, that they are a mere number and help will likely not come from them.
  • They have to figure out somewhere to get food. This can mean wild plants which they must know how to identify as safe, or risk poisoning themselves.
  • They have to understand that when we refer to “having no food” it doesn’t mean not having the food they are used to enjoying, it means no food to eat at all.
  • They have to understand that if they are fortunate enough to have any running water, they will probably have to bathe in cold water for lack of stored fuel to heat water.
  •  They have to realize that the very strange and totally unexpected is going to be all around them, made that much worse because of lack of any reliable self defense stores or skills.
  • They might have to remain on the run constantly because of looking for water and food.
  • They must understand that bad will be magnified magnitudes to living misery because of lack of food, water, and other necessary items that they took for granted for so long.

Okay, now comes the “truly ugly and unthinkable” life that most, if not all, people that have failed and refused to prepare themselves will deal with.  Clear vivid visualization is key here for anyone that ho hums the idea of prepping.

What horrors they will likely face after a cave-in of their nation’s economy, war, geophysical upheaval, or whatever crisis is bad enough to disturb or stop their nation from working and functioning?  There are plenty of very potential SHTF events that are simply awaiting a catalyst to trigger them.

  •  The Non-Prepper (NP) has to realize right off the bat that 911 and other emergency calls in will be met with silence or some recording telling the caller not to panic.
  • The (NP) that has no reliable self defense that can stop an attacker, will not get help from public services, and will become a victim of rape, assault, torture, or murder.
  • The (NP) that has no reliable self defense and will not only be at the mercy of criminal elements, but also have to contend with many desperate animals, some with rabies.
  • The (NP) that has no food will either have to find food or be ready to beg for food or worse, like sacrificing their bodies or other horrible acts or things to get a bite of food.
  • The (NP) will have to go through the worst, most rancid conditions of garbage to just maybe find what they should have stored up.
  • The (NP) will go through panic and near if not total psychosis looking for any water source right before their bodies begin shutting down during advanced stages of dehydration.
  • The (NP) will go through unbearable trauma when their children and other people around them are crying, screaming, and suffering with intense hunger pains in their stomachs.
  •  The (NP) will have to deal with the awful stench of rotting wastes from many sources because they have not taken the effort to even store up waste disposal plastic bags.
  • The (NP) will have disease and pathogens everywhere, not only because they have no trash disposal means, but because they haven’t prepared how to deal with trash and waste.
  • The (NP) will have to live in very primitive conditions after things around them deteriorate rapidly, because they have neglected putting away anything to make life more bearable.
  • The (NP) and those around them will likely develop all sorts of infective skin rashes from the lack of insight of storing up toilet paper.  Imagine the smell for a moment.
  • The (NP) will have to handle biting insects and other vermin that will collect amoungst the filth that will pile up.  No pest control stored up along with no other supplies.
  • The (NP) will have no way of treating sickness certain to follow a SHTF event, no first aid and likely no training or knowledge about how to treat the ill on top of this.
  • The (NP) will have sick and dying people around them because of not being able to treat minor injuries.  Didn’t even stock up on disinfectives.  Unsanitary conditions lead to infection.
  • The (NP) and others around them will experience much grief as they watch helplessly as their family members literally die of starvation right in front of their eyes.
  • The (NP) won’t believe how desperate hunger drives them and those that mean everything to them to “trying” to eat food that taste so bad it gags them and comes back up.
  • The (NP) will likely have family and friends around them that have also not prepared committing suicide because they can’t take it any longer.
  • The (NP) will witness some of those people around them lose any sense of civilized humanity in them and behave like wild animals after some time from lack of necessities.
  • The (NP) and family members, maybe friends also, will at some point end up barbecuing or eating raw the family dog, cat, bird, any pet dear to everyone for food.
  • The (NP) will likely get into physical fights with other family members over any scrap of food available as rational thoughts are lost to wanton hunger.
  • The (NP) as many other (NP’s) will eventually go out of any safety of their home looking for food and or water, become disorientated and lost, and die a hard death somewhere.
  • The (NP) that is “lucky” enough to find some government help will likely have to almost sell their soul, probably all their freedom, to get tiny rations – just enough to keep them alive.
  • The (NP) will see widespread violence and barbarism that will shock them to the core and will wish that they had purchased some form of firearm and stocked up on ammunition.
  • The (NP) better get used to attempting to explain the children and other adults why they wasted all that money on junk, and didn’t buy any emergency food and other supplies.
  • The (NP), no matter how positive they are will drop quickly into depression and lose willpower as having nothing to hold on to does this, along with lack of any nutrition.
  • The (NP) will feel the worst guilt imaginable as they hear their family moaning in anguish from lack of anything to eat, knowing they could have done something to prepare.
  • The (NP) will most likely not see the rebuilding and recovery after A SHTF event. They will, like almost all NP’s, be statistics.  Some will die hours or a day before help arrives.
  • The (NP) from lack of food, drinking bad water, no light at night, the horrid smells, no good self defense, the overall horror, will often be paralyzed with fear and despair, blank stare.
  • The (NP) is totally helpless after SHTF, will have to rely totally on charity of those prepared to live.  They will take all sorts of desperate measures likely to get them shot.  They’ll attempt to eat hazardous foods like an animal trapped in a house will do, and get sick and suffer much before dying.  The (NP) will likely die (ugly and hard) as they lived, unprepared for anything.

If we were to use one single word to describe the torments that someone who “chooses” not to prepare will go through after a true you know what hits the fan it would be “PREVENTABLE”.

Almost every single person, even a very poor person, has the capacity to put away emergency food and supplies.  Even homeless people have stashes of something just in case things become so bad that the normal hand outs and thrown-away items dry up.  Many people with good sources of income don’t even have an extra can of food or any water put away at all. This is stupidity beyond words.

Every day lightweight disasters happen in all parts of the world that disturb services enough that people are confined to their homes for a certain amount of time.  While recovery is short, people are still uncomfortable during these times.  Look what happens after a power outage at night and you will be mystified at how many homes are completely dark for hours.  People have not even bought an extra couple of candles or any battery operated light sources.  Even in well-to-do neighborhoods you may hear only a lone generator going after a blackout.  This lack of preparedness is truly frightening and plays itself out again, again, and again every time services are disrupted for minor to major reasons.  It’s as if there is something wrong with storing extra food, water, and supplies.

Even after “lessons” played out to what happens to those non-prepared, most people still feel that it just cannot happen to them, or won’t ever happen to them again.  It should be proof enough to people what happens to those unprepared after disasters simply by looking at those that have gone through it firsthand.  The difference, though, comes in that these disasters have had recovery periods and help from others. Even Haiti received some help and conditions remain putrid over there.

After a TRUE SHTF, it is presumable that government help and others coming to the aid of those in need WON’T happen for long periods of time. During that time those that have chosen to not put food, water, and necessities away are going to be in life threatening positions.  Most people just don’t get that when the supermarket shelves are empty they will stay that way for an extended period.  When the utilities go down, especially water, it may be weeks, months, or longer before they come back, if ever.  Without what someone needs to survive each day, it is not going to magically appear, and depending on the goodwill of others to feed them and sacrifice their own family’s survival chances is a terrible choice.

People MUST know what life will be like after SHTF in mega fashion if they refuse to prepare.  This is NOT new. Terrible events have plunged people into the deepest levels of desperation and hopelessness, and they will happen again and again.

While the above consequences to the non-prepper are extremely abysmal for anyone to read, the simple fact of the matter is they have already happened time and time again to those that have nothing put away.  People have resorted to cannibalism and gone to levels of primitive savage behavior out of shear desperation and out of literally losing their minds to the physical depletion of food and water that keeps the physical body operating.  Sometimes showing the extreme severity and results of a person’s lack of action, such as failure of the simple act of putting away extra food, water, and supplies, can be the kick in the complacency that they need.

It’s really easy to put away food and supplies. All one has to do is add a little bit of extra food to the grocery cart for long-term storage. Over time this adds up to a well stocked pantry of supplies.

There is something that is in a can of food that everyone can eat and enjoy the taste of, so talk to family members about their nutritional preferences and start stocking up.  Toilet paper and other supplies that really don’t have any expiration date can be put away and forgotten about ’til needed.

There MUST be common sense and intelligence to see what happens IF they don’t stock up for the future.  There has to be the DESIRE to get started, and this is the real problem with so many.

Once started, however, prepping becomes a type of life saving routine or positive lifestyle habit.   It is easy and can and will save one from misery. It may save their life and the lives of their family from ruin when SHTF, which is almost inevitably going to happen someday.  Every month and year that goes by without a true SHTF event, makes it more likely that it will happen.  Basic statistical chance shows this to be the case, but people continue the same pattern of behavior that has led them to the same devastation countless time before.

For those preppers that have people around them that refuse to prepare, you can at least have some degree of solace knowing that you tried to show the non-prepping person(s) what not having anything will mean to them and their families.

All we can do is try. Once we’ve given it our best shot, all we can do is let those who have been warned about the direness of the possibilities live their lives the way that want to. They will, unfortunately, live in a world of regret and suffering if the nation and the world falls apart around them.

To every action there is an opposite equal reaction. Preppers will see their efforts have been more than worth it.  Objects that are motionless tend to remain motionless and non-preppers will find there are horrific consequences for their lack of effort and motion to put away “life insurance” preps for themselves and their families.

I am somewhat a late bloomer when it comes to certain things.  And as I suggest in most of my writings, seminars and radio broadcasts I don’t believe in coincidence as a random act of chance.  I recently watched the movies 2016:  Obama’s America and HBO’s Game Change in the span of a weekend.

HBO’s Game Change portrayed Sarah Palin as inept and ill-equipped to be a heartbeat away from the presidency.  And in that film, Senator John McCain was depicted as a foul-mouthed, but well intended politician that was more concerned how his grandchildren remembered his campaign rather than exposing and politicizing certain relationships then Senator Barack Obama had with certain political activists.  The dichotomy became clear in that film as Senator McCain’s insistence on taking the highroad clashed with Governor Palin’s passion for confrontation.  The results are now obvious and the election results history.

2016:  Obama’s America makes the suggestion that the president’s policies, both domestic and foreign are based on his father’s beliefs that America should pay for worldwide colonial pursuits by becoming less and less influential and powerful.  The film provides many examples of this colonial mindedness and to provide a listing of each would be unfair to those that have produced the movie.  But one aspect of the film lists those that have served as Obama’s mentors.  From Reverend Jeremiah Wright to Bill Ayers, and there are others that are members of a select group of philosophers, political activists and educators that were described as Obama’s Founding Fathers.  And each was described as how they shaped the mind of the 44th President of the United States.  And this group is extremely suspect when it comes to ethical, legal and moral extremes each would twist to exploit and promote their agendas.  Now, this is not a criticism of who Barack Obama is or what he stands for, one can simply ask the question, “Am I better off now than I was in 2008?”  This is instead a suggestion that the integrity of Senator John McCain is not beyond reproach as many promote.

Does one have the moral obligation to pull someone from the path of an oncoming bus?  Most, if not all would answer with a resounding yes.  To debate that the one standing in the way of the bus is exercising freewill and knows what’s best is a presumption based on absurdity.  One must act and the one acting does not do so with the consideration of how their grandchildren will remember the heroic deed.  No, one does it because it is the right thing to do.  So, even though there were media personalities that one can say were Senator John McCain’s mouth piece for exposing Obama’s mentors, where was John McCain, and why didn’t he pull us from the oncoming bus?  John McCain was more concerned with his legacy as opposed to his country’s future.  Wanting to conduct an honorable campaign his grandchildren would be proud of mesmerizes the logic of most people – not mine, however.  So, who were Senator McCain’s founding fathers?  Were they Washington, Jefferson or Franklin?  I don’t think so.  I believe them to be Me, Myself and I!

New Book Asks "Do things happen by chance?"
After Author Von Goodwin's mother’s death, one man studies the reality of our consciousness
ShareThis  Email  PDF  Print . .“Consciousness is thinking with awareness,” says Goodwin. “The reality is that there will always be something there that may not be perceived.” Hoover, AL (PRWEB) October 03, 2011

Has anything remarkable happened today? After his mother’s tragic death, Von Goodwin wanted answers from both medical and legal perspectives, which opened the doors of consciousness for him. Based on his personal experience and extensive studies, Goodwin showcases important truths in his new book, The Egg Moon (published by Balboa Press).

“Consciousness is thinking with awareness,” says Goodwin. “The reality is that there will always be something there that may not be perceived.”

The Egg Moon showcases that individuals have the power, through their consciousness to control their world. Goodwin exposes shortcomings in Western understanding of basic facets of history and spiritual beliefs through the lens of his personal experiences.

“The phenomenon displayed in The Egg Moon describes how the sensation of the speeding-up of time is an illusion based on creation,” says Goodwin.

The Egg Moon proves that there is no such thing as coincidence: each person has the authority to shape his or her own life.

“Coincidence does not exist, divine orchestration does. And awareness of this concept increases one’s consciousness. Has anything remarkable happened to you today?” says Goodwin.

Fri, 06 Jul 2012 11:02:00 -0700 How Work Works http://vongoodwin.posterous.com/how-work-works http://vongoodwin.posterous.com/how-work-works

I spend far too many hours each week consulting and coaching staffers who are uninspired and minimally productive.  And the reason is not because each lacks professionalism; it is because they don’t understand balance in their lives.

Businesses exist for one reason: to make profits.  Businesses seek only to perpetuate themselves. It’s all about return dollars to the people who have taken the risks of financing them; or to those who re-sell their products or services. They are not in business for charity, and they don't pretend to be. Therefore, any victimizing you experience as a result of your connection to a business institution has probably come about because you allowed it to happen.

If you believe a business – your employer - owes you some kind of loyalty and ought to reward your long service with a lot of benefits to you as a person, then you are carrying around groundless illusions.  Companies will pay you for your services until you can no longer deliver the services it needs, and then you will be dismissed.  And that separation will be done as cheaply as possible.

I don’t want to sound cynical, or hardened, but this is business in our western culture; it is simply the way things are. Whenever you become an employee of a company, this is what you are agreeing to accept. Even if it has such things as pension plans, profit sharing, incentive programs, or any other devices designed to hold on to employees, the fact remains that when a company doesn't need you any more, you will be replaced, and every effort will be made to get rid of you as cheaply as possible.

Companies simply do what they are designed to do, and I am not criticizing them. I use these companies to my benefit.  But you are not a company. You are a human being who breathes and feels and experiences life. You do not have to be upset about the way businesses operate, nor do you have to commit yourself slavishly to institutions just because you are encouraged to do so by company spokesmen who stand to gain by your self-victimizing loyalty. The man who retires after devoting fifty years of untiring service to a company, and receives a gold watch and a small pension for his lifetime of devotion, has not been victimized by the company. It owes him nothing, so he should feel grateful for the watch and move on. He did his job and received his paychecks, and the company received its services. That is the way it is supposed to be. But the retiree has been victimized if he has devoted himself beyond normal requirements and sacrificed his own personal goals and his family activities, because institutions do nothing but continue, whether you kill yourself for them or simply see them as ways for you to make your living.

The Evening of Tomorrow

When I want to understand what is happening today or try to decide what will happen tomorrow, I look back.

 Omar Khayyam

We have to guard against being deceived by religious entities, government agencies, academic footman, or others with varied agendas into believing a lie.  I sometimes think those who think as we do are too quick to embrace ideas.  We tend to be too touchy-feely and think as though skepticism is anti-spiritual; as if there is a capricious side to inspiration.  There is no judgment at this level.  There is no need to be impatient.  When one is ready to learn, the teacher is persuasive and legitimate.  And the answer to the riddle of learning is to be still; don’t pursue answers; let the answers come to you!  It is a matter of thinking clearly, and not deeply.  I know this seems like the quintessential buzz kill to a New Age high, but let’s look to our experience; my experience.

Wars are, for example, something we can all agree on as tragic.  Historically, the perception of warring has been to either gain a strategic economic or political advantage over a foe, or, the need to create a distraction.  The latter may be a more common premise.  My dad was at times way out there in some respects and there were times I thought him to be troubled; and then there were times when he had moments of brilliance and I considered his wisdom to be well beyond his years.  I remember him saying the only reason the United States entered into WWII was to create a distraction from the economic hard times the Depression had created, and to provide a real and urgent reason to create a fiat economy.  As a young adult I remember thinking he was a bit nuts.  How could war be an economic strategy? After all, we were the home team.  We did the things wars are supposed to do; kill people, break things and impose our will.  Weren’t we providing humanitarian assistance? Wasn’t God on our side?  Maybe so to all of the above, but only after having lived a few questions of my own did I see his point.  If the United States entered the WWII in Europe as a humanitarian effort as I had always thought, then why didn’t the United States send troops to Darfur?

In 1994 over 800,000 people were killed as a result of ethnic cleansing; this in a country the size of Texas.  800,000 people were hacked to death by mobs carrying machetes.  With sanctioning from the local authorities and with a blind eye and deaf ear of the suffering, the world leaders did little to stop the carnage.  Imagine the terror one must have experienced as a mob of knife bearing fanatics attacked women and children separating their limbs from their bodies.  I hope nature provided an escape, a state of shock that would have buffered the fear and pain that one would presume the victims experienced.  I wonder if they wondered from where help would come.  There were accounts of some victims that were classified as intellectuals that were killed in arenas by having their skulls opened and their brains removed to cheering crowds.  The initial carnage lasted for 100 days and its affect was so profound that one of the final acts of closure by United Nations peace-keeping squads was the killing of all of the dogs within the country; the reason was the countryside had been littered with the bodies of the murdered and the dogs had ample opportunity to developed a taste for human flesh.

What could come close to matching the severity of this event? Contrasting that event with a more recent event in Libya where there was far less violence inflicted on the populous, military intervention was utilized; swiftly and with determination to oust the dictator Moammar Gaddafi on humanitarian reasons.  One cannot place a number on the amount of deaths and define one as extreme and another as acceptable, all killings are tragic.  However, estimates of those killed in Libya range from 2,000 to 30,000 over several months.  And I would hope Libya’s oil reserves and production, as well as the country’s association with British Petroleum could not have been a primary factor in the intervention.  Darfur exports Arabic gum, tree sap, the substance used to make the lickable adhesive on the back of postage stamps!

I fear governments would orchestrate more wars to create distractions if it were possible, but the citizenry is growing tired of that option.  Remember as we discussed earlier in this section, control is the mission.  So, with the government’s awareness of a growing realization amongst its populace of a shift in collective consciousness and the government’s awareness that phenomenon can be leveraged to manipulate the masses, who is to say an alien visitation event would not be staged.  It is far easier to ride the tides of fate and go with the flow, so to speak, and capitalize on the inevitable than it is foster a forced shift in belief systems.  People are witnessing more and more UFOs, the Vatican has acknowledged their existence, and ancient text tells of their reality.  I am certain we are not alone, if fact humans are as alien to this planet as those that staff these UFOs.  After all, it seems as though we may have been genetically engineered by them.  There are precedents for unscrupulous entities that profit from divine events. I know that conspiracy theories seem to outnumber the stars sometimes, and even though many, if not most, are concoctions, there are still a significant number that are factual.  And if fear can be used to promote an agenda, so can promise; disingenuous or not.  Ben Rich, former Head of the Lockheed Skunk Works and developer of the F-117A Nighthawk states:

We already have the means to travel among the stars, but these technologies are locked up in black projects and it would take an act of God to ever get them out to benefit humanity.  Anything you can imagine we already know how to do.  There are two types of UFOs – the ones we build, and the ones they build. We learned from both crash retrievals and actual ‘hand-me-downs’.  The Government knew, and until 1969 took an active hand in the administration of that information. After a 1969 Nixon ‘Purge’, administration was handled by an international board of directors in the private sector.”

So, if it happens, when it happens, this could be the similar to stories in the Biblical book of Revelations of an anti-truth entity being promoted as the real thing.  My advice, from a lifetime of mistakes and learning, is to approach this event, and others, with the skill of silence and the discipline of stillness.  And with the elevated level of consciousness we are continuing to experience, this will become a natural response.

In many ways, America is the land of plenty. But for 1 in 6 people in the United States, hunger is a reality. Many people believe that the problems associated with hunger are confined to small pockets of society, certain areas of the country, or certain neighborhoods, but the reality is much different.

Right now, millions of Americans are struggling with hunger.  These are often hard-working adults, children and seniors who simply cannot make ends meet and are forced to go without food for several meals, or even days.

It’s time to educate ourselves about the causes of hunger in America.   (from feedingamerica.org)

Synopsis

A young woman embarks on a Wonderland journey as she seeks a cancer cure by challenging medical authority with information from the psychic realm and finds her amusing “inner selves” in the process. Rather than believing healthy medical test results or that the lump in her breast is her imagination, she summons the courage to defy her doctors and uses everything available in this world and the next to save her life.  The healing power of humor, prayer, and spirit teach her an important lesson: “Take care of your spirit and it will take care of you.”

ABOUT THE COVER

“DRINK ME”: This page was scanned from an original book dated 1866. This is a color illustration by John Tenniel from Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. I have added two objects to the cover to make it more relevant to my story.  Can you find them?

  PREFACE

“Being at odds with yourselves is self defeating.”

Kathleen O’Keefe-Kanavos

You’ve heard of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Well, I embarked on similar journey when I fell down the rabbit hole of Cancerland.

What is Cancerland?  Think of it as the intellectual, emotional, and psychic amusement park of cancer treatment where every ride, game, and attraction demonstrates a different aspect of humanity’s complexities and individualism during treatment. Cancerland provides multiple explanations of the way things are in the physical, spiritual, psychic, and dream worlds of crisis.

I use the allegory of Alice’s travels to make the crucial parts of my cancer survival more accessible and less frightening to the reader who may also be in treatment.

Cancer is humbling.  It is guaranteed to knock you down with its series of crises that begin with discovery and continue through treatment, often with no end in sight. If you are reading this book, odds are good that you or a loved one has been knocked down by illness and you are searching for answers that include and go beyond scientific facts. I also searched for answers when I found out the hard way that not all cancers are found by conventional medical tests. Intuition can play an important part in discovery and diagnosis. Intuition is defined as instinctively knowing without conscious reasoning. I was caught off guard, but maybe you can learn from my story.

What I seek to present by writing this book is an alternative to ignoring our intuition in favor of science or ignoring science in favor of intuition. Why limit ourselves with one when we can use both to our advantage?  I learned that the best way to survive any health crisis is to mix intuition and science and then cross-check them against each other for answers that are indisputably correct. Listen, then medically verify. By respecting both of these information modalities, we double our chances of finding answers that are correct and possibly lifesaving.

It is time to stop ignoring ourselves and discover our voices. You don’t have to be psychic to believe your intuition or inner voices. In order to effectively battle illness, we must get in touch with our inner selves and work together toward the goal of survival by using everything available to us. By searching within ourselves through dreams, meditation, or prayer, we will find our own set of answers to any challenge.

When my intuitive suspicion of breast cancer was medically confirmed, I considered suicide as a means of freeing myself from a painful uncertainty. I was engulfed by fear of the unknown and wanted to avoid the gruesome death Mom had suffered from cancer sixteen months earlier. Fortunately, armed with lessons I had learned throughout life and especially while caring for Mom, my inner selves became united in the goal of survival.  Everyone battling any life-threatening illness has his or her own set of questions concerning treatment and survival.  Unfortunately, questions concerning intuition often remain unanswered by the medical field.  Spiritual guides, angels, intuition, gut instincts, call them what you will, “voices” and dreams have gotten a bad rap in society. Just ask Joan of Arc. Her voices were a double-edged sword that led her to both victory and the stake. Yet they saved my life and were a help and comfort to me during treatment.  Without their intervention, I believe I would be dead, and this book would be a buried idea.  My voices are as much a part of my battle as the medical staff and treatments.

Living the Question

Ancient wisdom proclaims a teacher will appear when the student is ready to learn. We often miss learning opportunities when the teacher is cloaked as coincidence; learning experiences are either ignored as chance or proclaimed as miracles. These extremes deny one the power to shape one’s life. The only miracle then
becomes why so many are unconscious to their creative power. The secret is to identify the teacher and learn the skill of awareness.

Mon, 09 Apr 2012 19:30:00 -0700 The Hitchhiker http://vongoodwin.posterous.com/the-hitchhiker http://vongoodwin.posterous.com/the-hitchhiker

It was 3:00 AM on Interstate 20 west of Vicksburg, Mississippi.  Crossing the Mississippi River Bridge unnerved me, particularly at night. The annoying hum of the tires interacting with the steel-grated crossing, and the apprehension that the structure supporting me was well over 60 feet above the water terrified me. The only comfort for the two mile span was the cloudless night and bright moon that guided me. That made the drive a bit more tolerable.

The trees along the river bank were illuminated with a silvery light that cast shadows, creating two dimensional silhouettes.  Dimming the dashboard lights to improve my view, depth of field was lost as shadow and light played games with my vision.  The boundary separating light from shadow was wispy and unclear, creating the illusion of movement, as if the trees were shifting from their rooted nest.

The satellite radio was tuned to Coast To Coast AM and George Noory’s guest was intriguing as usual.  The subject of tonight’s show focused on the spiritual realm; spirit guides and guardian angels.  Each caller to the show had a specific question that was preceded by one’s own tale of the unusual.  Some of the tales were more believable than were others.  And if I were to call I would most likely skip the story and proceed to the question, I had no tale to tell.

Sipping a cup of truck-stop coffee that was brewed with a driver’s intent in mind, it provided a much needed stimulant to stay awake.  My journey tonight was the result of a late-night phone call at 11:00 PM from the Vice President of Production regarding an emergency meeting.  The meeting had been hastily scheduled to be held at the branch office in Shreveport, Louisiana at 8:00 AM the following morning.  It was too late to arrange a flight, and the drive from Jackson, Mississippi was uneventful and easy.  I suppose most people would have opted out of the required engagement with a myriad of reasons to do so.  My parents, on the other hand, had instilled in me an unyielding work ethic.  As a school child if I were sick, my Dad would encourage me to go to school.  Insisting that I was going to be sick anyway, so why not be productive while being sick.  So, in good conscience, I could not decline the request.

West of the bridge I saw a hitchhiker.  She was alone and desperately waving her arms above her head for someone to stop.  I did not see a car, nor had I noticed one disabled in my travel, and my first thought was why she is alone and how did she get here.  I looked in the rearview mirror to begin my exit from the highway.  As I placed my foot on the brake pedal to stop, the pedal offered no resistance and my foot rested on the floor of the car.  No brakes!  I began to pump the brake pedal, slowly at first, and then with added concern.  Certainly, I could coast to a stop but not in time to assist the hitchhiker.  In fact, I dismissed the possibility of offering her aid and drove slowly to the next exit with plans to use the emergency brake as an alternative.

Approaching exit Number 171, the Tallulah exit, I once again tried to apply my brakes and with different results.  The brakes worked perfectly.  I stopped to refill my coffee and continued west toward Shreveport.  I changed the radio setting to a local channel as I drew nearer to my destination. The news bulletin sent a chill throughout my spine.  Two carjacking victims were found east of Tallulah on Interstate 20.  One was dead, two gunshots to the head, and the other was wounded and left dying.  The wounded victim gave an account of the crime, an account that described an attractive woman hitchhiking.  And when they stopped to offer assistance, the woman jumped into the back seat of the car and held their attention by removing her blouse.  With their attention focused on the woman’s breasts, a man armed with a handgun ran from the wooded area near the highway and attacked the two men.  Shooting both and dragging them from the car.

At the time I felt fortunate that I could not stop and certainly I would have been a victim if I had.  The next day, I had the braking system checked and the mechanic found nothing faulty.  The strange coincidence of a failed braking system and the inability to stop saved my life.  At the time I considered the series of events to be a stroke of good luck.

Mon, 09 Apr 2012 19:17:00 -0700 April 5th: The Last 260 Days http://vongoodwin.posterous.com/april-5th-the-last-260-days http://vongoodwin.posterous.com/april-5th-the-last-260-days

There are nine layers of the Mayan Step pyramid.  And there are nine Steps of the explanation of the Mayan calendar on the Coba stone.  Each layer has thirteen sections representing seven periods of light and six periods of dark.  The light periods represent times of enlightenment and the dark periods represent times of applying enlightenment.  The fifth period of each layer is significant.  Other, more ancient cultures had a similar approach to explaining time and history using a seven day creation.  The Maya is the most recent and consequently, has fresher information.

Each layer of the calendar focuses on a time frame of galactic history.  Each layer starts at a specific time in the past and culminates on the calendar’s end date.  The first layer starts 16.4 billion years in the past at the time of the Big Bang.  Each of the 13 periods represented 1.26 billion years and each had a purpose.  The formation of the Universe obviously began in the first period at the time of singularity.  And earth’s solar system formed in the fifth period.  The first single-celled life forms began in the thirteenth.  This layer of the calendar is called the Cellular to reflect a significant development; that of consciousness and life it’s self.  From the Big Bang to the present, Indians making clay pots in the humid jungles of the Yucatan were contemplating vast periods of time, that were later confirmed in the twentieth century.  So, with a reading of each layer, one’s attention is drawn ever closer to a narrowing period of time.  And as the time narrows, consciousness increases as if being drawn in by a vortex.

The second layer of the calendar begins 820 million years in the past and, once again, culminates in the present.  Each period of time represents 63.4 million years.  This layer is named Mammalian because of the presence of live births.

The third layer of the calendar begins 41 million years ago.  Each period represents 3.2 million years.  This layer is called the Familiar because of the development of family groups that are associated with primates.

The fourth layer of the calendar begins 2 million years ago.  Each period represents 154, 000 years.  This layer is called the Tribal because of the development of group cooperation.

The fifth layer of the calendar begins 102,000 years ago.  Each period represents 7,800 years.  This layer is called the Cultural because this is when organized farming developed.

The sixth layer of the calendar begins 5,125 years ago.  The specific date is August 13, 3113 BCE.  Each period represents 394 years.  This layer is called the National as an ancient king married two cultures to become Egypt.

The seventh layer of the calendar begins in 1755 A.D.  Each period represents 19.7 years.  This layer is called Planetary with the development of global communications and the invention of the Internet in 1992.

The eighth layer of the calendar begins January 5, 1999.  Each period represents 360 days.  This layer is called Galactic because of the growing awareness of other worlds and solar systems.

The ninth layer of the calendar begins April 5, 2012.  Each period represents 20 days.  This layer is called Universal.  And the future holds a significant event for those who will bear witness.

Time appears to be speeding up.  This is an illusion.  Time as a mode of measurement is constant, and it inexorably marches on.  And the sensation of speeding up is not with regard to time, it is in fact with regard to creation.  More and more stuff is happening in less and less time.  And what one can experience today in a 360 day period in the 8th layer would take 19.7 years in the seventh and 394 years in the sixth.  And consequently, what one would have experienced in the seventh layer taking 394 years would take 20 days in the ninth layer!

Within the first layer of the calendar, on the fifth period of light, the Solar System was formed followed by 2.6 billion years of cosmic bombardment.  Earth’s source of water came from the collisions of comets.  And a common theme of the Mayan calendar is a provision followed by a need.  For life to exist on earth, water was required.  The second layer witnessed life on land and subsequently its extinction, for the most part in the fifth period of light.  Three percent of all earth bound life forms survived.

In the fifth period of layer three, color vision was developed.  And in the fifth period of the fourth layer fire was discovered and used as a tool.  Once again, just as a need is presented a provision is supplied, the Ice Age occurred in the next period.

In the fifth period of layer five, art was invented as a means of communication.  The intent of the communication was to chronicle information for those to come. This intent and action was the first contemplations and conceptualizations of future.  On the fifth night, Neanderthal became extinct because of their inability to change.  Neanderthal had no concept of future, or planning, and thus had no future.

The realization of the Divine within each of us occurred in the fifth period of layer 6.  Christ died and his message that we all have access to the source, without the need for an intercessor, defined each person as worthy, spiritual beings.  The fifth night marked the fall of Rome after the exodus of the demigods, and the beginning of the Dark Ages.  Once again, the provision was the concept that humanity possesses an internal, guiding light. And this followed by a time of need when each day was dark, bleak and troubling.

The seventh layer is a time of possibilities.  From Einstein’s theory of Relativity and e=mc2 in 1913 liberating science from Newton’s pull, to Sir Edwin Hubble’s declaration of an infinite universe in 1924, the fifth period of light created a consciousness that everything is possible.  The idea that everything is possible was supported by the conclusion that everywhere does exist.  There was a degree of comfort in knowing one was a part of something much grander and indestructible and ongoing.  And the fifth dark period marked the beginning of World War II and the atomic bomb, and the possibility of global destruction.  Once again, a foundation of hope and encouragement was provided prior to the need when fear gripped the world.

The awareness that all things have consciousness is what is being experienced in the eighth layer.  Both animate and inanimate things are becoming more revered.  Rights were granted to earth’s life forms that had once been deemed as expendable.  And these rights were afforded protection by civil and criminal laws.  And protection of resources that were once considered inexhaustible is now being recognized and preserved.  This level of consciousness stems from the realization that the pale blue dot on which all of life resides must live in harmony and balance.  Galactic knowledge is increasing exponentially and ethics will define the age.

Layer nine is called the Universal.  And life from beyond our planetary experience will be made known.  Humanity will know without question we are not alone in the Cosmos.

Mon, 09 Apr 2012 19:09:00 -0700 Kennedy and Khrushchev http://vongoodwin.posterous.com/kennedy-and-khrushchev http://vongoodwin.posterous.com/kennedy-and-khrushchev

President Kennedy announced on May 25, 1961 that the United States would send a man to the moon and return him safely to earth.  And that this would be achieved by the end of the decade.  Many believe that his motive was to out race the Soviets in the development of technology.  With the existence of the Cold War and the vestiges of McCarthyism, it was an easy rationalization.  And certainly the political environment was such that the passion to beat the Russians was ample if fueling and funding the initiative.  But, why would the President in a time of economic down turn allocate incredible amounts of money and effort to send a human to the moon when human rights and employment were a more pressing problem.

The Apollo program was strategically implemented by the Kennedy Administration.  The placement of key NASA facilities in the South in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida provided an economic and technological stimulus for a region of the country with an agricultural past.  Added to that the requirement that federal government regulations required the hiring of minorities and Kennedy had set in motion the resolution of two social ills; the economy and civil rights. And if there were the end of the story, the revolution in technology and the aggressive move toward racial equalities would have been enough to have assured Kennedy’s place in history.  Since the Release of Information Act, additional information has been discovered, however.  What was the real reason for the moon missions?

Documents that were released under the Freedom of Information Act revealed photographs taken from a US satellite that was built and deployed to provide surveillance of the Soviet Union.  This surveillance recorded the landscape of something else, however.  The images taken from this spy satellite prior to the announcement of the Apollo Mission were exclusively that of the lunar surface.  The post-discovery rationale was that it was easier to secure funding for defense than it was for space exploration, or in this case, confirmation of extraterrestrials.  So, build a spy satellite under the guise of photographing an imminent threat and then use it how one will.  Other disclosed documents suggest that President Kennedy was made aware of the existence of objects on the moon that were considered artifacts.  Things left there by life forms.  And the interest of the United States, and other nations was not to simply fly to moon; it was to retrieve artifacts of intelligent design.

For those that are suspicious consider this, President Kennedy had approached the Premier of the Soviet Union, Nikita Khrushchev to persuade him and his country to share the cost and the rewards of the space program.  That is, work in unison to fly to moon and safely return.  The Cold War being what it was, the idea of any partnership with the communists would have been farfetched and borderline treasonous.  Kennedy, on the other hand, knew what was on the moon would make earth a smaller place politically, and perhaps bridge many ideological differences.  Khrushchev dismissed the offer initially, and then agreed to Kennedy’s offer. After the agreement had been made, President Kennedy was assassinated a few days later on November 22, 1963.  A few weeks later, Premier Khrushchev was imprisoned and essentially never heard from again.  With one man dead and the other imprisoned and broken, the Cold War lasted another twenty years.  Many conspiracy theories exist for both incidents.  But, the common ground each man shared was that both were in agreement to disclose the existence of alien or human artifacts on another world.  And the reasons for extreme measures by a select group were to either escalate the Cold War, or prevent the disclosure of contact with an alien race.

Energy Vampires

by Lisa Tarves

The energy, or also known aspsychic, vampire is someone who exists in almost all of our lives.  Many of us have more than one of them around.  Worse yet, we may not even know they’re there!  These vamps continually make us feel physically and emotionally exhausted even with just small interactions.

An energy vampire is a person who feeds off the "life force" of other living creatures. Energy vampires are spiritually or emotionally weak people who, because they are unable to generate their own life force, have to feed off of others.  As long as these people are feeding off the positive people around them, they will be saved from the physical and emotional symptoms they naturally experience such as depression, headaches, dizziness, irritability, and anxiety.  Unfortunately, an energy vampire’s victim will have all of those problems as a result of the attack, plus the added feeling of being drained and exhausted.

Energy vampires have blocked their connection with the universe.  Because of this, they must get energy from somewhere, and they do that through the people around them that are connected to the universe.

Negative people are often labeled as psychic or energy vampires.  This is because, like vampires feed of a person’s blood in order to survive, energy vampires feed off the energy of others for their survival.

If you have ever encountered one of these vamps (and most of us have), they most certainly left you feeling drained, tired and lethargic.  This type of person is one that no matter what you say while having a conversation with them, or how intensely you try and change their pattern of negativity, they will always find a way to make any and every situation negative.  Anytime they have a problem in their lives, instead of dealing with it rationally and productively, they like to wallow in it.  This is because theylike playing the role of a victim.   They are completely fixated on drama, doom and gloom.

And energy vampires like to bring others over to their way of thinking.  Just like a vampire likes to convert people to their way of living because of their loneliness and need for companionship, negative people (energy vampires) like to convert others to feel the same way they do for the same reasons.  Remember the old saying; misery likes company.

So how do you know if these vamps are in your life?  Your energy vampires are the people you dread being near.  You avoid situations as much as possible where you might see or have to interact with them.  If you are forced to be in their company, you prepare yourself emotionally.  They are the people who, when you see them calling your phone, you either roll your eyes dreading the phone call or you simply send them to voicemail immediately!  You just can’t find the strength to talk with them.  You know that your interaction with this person will cause your positive energy to be sucked away.  Then you are left feeling lousy, exhausted, and out of sorts for the rest of the day.

Energy vampire stake your positive energy and use it for their own survival.  They lower your energy vibration so you begin feeling what they feel all the time; ashamed, angry, sad, frustrated, etc.  But, when you think about it, you know before you had contact with them, you were feeling happy and positive.  The light bulb comes on; you’ve just been attacked by an energy vampire.

So what can you do? First, figure out who they are.  You can do that by making a list of all the people in your life.  Start with the people you deal with on a daily basis, then weekly and finally less often.  Next to their name add a word for how they make you feel when you interact with them.  Do they make you feel happy and positive?  Does the interaction cause no change in your mood?  Or do they leave you drained and feeling horrible?  You might choose to use words like “positive”, “neutral” and “drained” to write next to their names.

Once you have completed your list, look it over.  Notice all the people you marked “drained”.  These, are no doubt, your energy vampires!

So now what?

Well, best case is that you have the ability to cut this person out of your life completely.  Is this person someone you don’t have to deal with anymore like an acquaintance or co-worker that you can avoid?  If that’s the case, completely disconnect yourself from this person.  Avoid them at all costs.  Problem solved!

But, what if this person is someone you really have little to no choice but to deal with?  Your boss (and you don’t want to leave your job), a family member?  One option you have is cut back on the amount of time you spend with them; especially one-on-one contact which is most draining.  Although, you will not be able to cut them completely out of your life you can certainly choose to limit the time you spend with them.  Remember, we ultimately have control over our lives and who we allow in to it.

Most importantly, learn how to shield yourself from these energy vamps!  Prepare yourself.  Know that when you see them, it will most likely be a negative experience.  They are going to say something negative to you or about you.  It’s what they always seem to do.  Sometimes making a joke about what they say when they say it will help the negativity to bounce off of you.  Keep strong, use humor and just don’t let them get to you.

You can also protect yourself from these vampires by picturing white or gold, positive light surrounding you before you see this person.  Keep that light around you anytime you are in a situation where you usually see your vampire.   To create this light, envision it surrounding you from your head to your feet.  The protection will then be there.  If you feel inclined, you may also ask Archangel Michael to protect you throughout your day and keep the energy vamps away from your energy.

Another situation many people experience is the energy vampire from their past.  Someone you are no longer communicating with in the present.  However, they have managed to link themselves to you through what is called an etheric cord.

An etheric cord is and energetic connection that forms between two people. The cord can become negative when the relationship is created from a fear-based emotion such as loneliness, anger, co-dependency, abuse, addiction, lack of forgiveness, or other negative emotions. Cords often develop after break-ups and divorces, but also other life changing events.  These people are still managing to drain you even though you are no longer in contact with them.  They are still connected energetically and emotionally and they are still using your energy for survival.

In the case of etheric cord attachment, a chakra balancing and etheric cord severing is necessary to rebalance your energy and to release the cord permanently.  This treatment will release dysfunctional aspects of the past relationship.

Besides the negative people who are Energy Vampires, there are others as well.  Here are some typical types of Energy Vampires as written by Theresa J. Borchard, author of the article, “Five Emotional Vampires and How to Combat Them”:

Vampire 1: The Narcissist

This vampire is grandiose, self-important, attention hogging, and hungry for admiration. She is often charming and intelligent–until her guru status is threatened.

Self-defense tips:  Enjoy her good qualities, but keep your expectations realistic:  Because her motto is “me-first,” getting angry or stating your needs won’t phase her. To get her cooperation, show how your request satisfies her self-interest.

Vampire 2: The Victim.

This vampire thinks the world is against him, and demands that others rescue him.

Self-defense tips: Don’t be his therapist, and don’t tell him to buck up. Limit your interactions, and don’t get involved in his self-pity.

Vampire 3: The Controller.

This vampire has an opinion about everything, thinks he knows what’s best for you, has a rigid sense of right and wrong, and needs to dominate.

Self-defense tips: Speak up and be confident. Don’t get caught up in bickering over the small stuff. Assert your needs, and then agree to disagree.

Vampire 4: The Criticizer.

This vampire feels qualified to judge you, belittle you, and bolster her own ego by making you feel small and ashamed.

Self-defense tips: Don’t take what she says personally. Address a misplaced criticism directly. Don’t get defensive. Express appreciation for what’s useful. Bounce back with a massive dose of loving-kindness.

Vampire 5: The Splitter.

This vampire may treat you like his BFF one day, and then mercilessly attack you the next day when he feels wronged. He is often a threatening rageaholic who revels in keeping others on an emotional rollercoaster.

Self-defense tips: Establish boundaries and be solution-oriented. Avoid skirmishes, refuse to take sides, and avoid eye contact when he’s raging at you. Visualize a protective shield around you when you’re being emotionally attacked.

Whether the vampire is in your life presently or still attacking from a distance, they do not have the right to be in control of your life!  As energetic beings, we decide who we allow into our lives and how we allow them to affect us.  We can cut their energy supply off and they will be forced to find energy elsewhere or, better yet, look inside themselves to find the answer to their neediness and unhappiness.  What matters most is each one of us as a part of the beautiful universe live our lives in peace and to choose who and when we give of our energy.

Raised in the small town of Valley Forge, Pennsylvania Lisa was able to grow up in a secure and close community. She was first introduced to the concepts of metaphysics by her father when she was fairly young. “The powers of natural healing and spirituality fascinated me.  It seemed like magic”, she excitedly states. And she knew from those moments what people searched their whole lives for purpose. “I knew my purpose.”

As she got older, Lisa realized she was able to tap into special abilities most people don’t; abilities she calls her intuitive gift. And to her surprise, she found that her Great-Great Grandmother was a gifted, modest, and wise psychic. The result of her spiritual ability and exposure to metaphysics led her to where she is today. It inspired her to attend the American Institute of Holistic Theology where she earned her Master’s Degree in Metaphysical Science and is currently working on her Ph.D in Holistic Health.  She has also been Board Certified as a Holistic Health Practitioner by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners (AADP).  Lisa is a Reiki Master and Shamballa Energy Healer.  And as part of her Master’s program, she became certified in: aromatherapy, color therapy, chakra therapy, reflexology, Indian head massage, herbology, hypnosis and crystal therapy.  Lisa also practices Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), meditation instruction, individual counseling, intuitive readings, dream analysis and so much more.

Lisa says her favorite words are “believe” and “faith”.  “I believe that with faith anything is possible - even the things that seem out of reach.”

Whether you are having a reading that focuses on something going on (or not) in your life or your pets life, a loved one that has died, or a haunting, Sharon will not pretend or tell you she knows something is,  if it isn't - or visa versa. You can count on her to be responsive to your questions and candid with her answers.

Sharon works with information and energy she receives from your guides, angels,  higher self and masters; she uses her many years of working with and knowledge of tarot, palmistry, psychometry, human nature as well as her own life experiences, along with guidance from her own guides, angels, higher self, and ascended masters to get you as much practical useful information as possible.

Sharon is a psychic medium and, yes she can talk to people and pets that have died. When they come though to her, she will tell you exactly what they tell her.

Sharon requests clients write down 3 to 4 questions prior to meeting with her. What ever the reason for your reading, your questions will need to be for you about you. Your questions are used as a critique. Your written questions are not looked at until the reading is finished. It is unusual for her to miss addressing a question during the reading.

Sharon's psychic readings are not the "on Tuesday, the 30th of June in 2086 you will be walking down Maple Street and meet a tall cat that reminds you that it's time to go to the grocery store three blocks to your right and buy peanuts..." kind of reading...

and/or  if you are looking for a psychic to tell you how to live your life as in what to do and exactly when to do it... truly, if you are looking for something like that - Sharon is not the psychic to call.

Sharon will not tell you what you should do with your life- what you do with the knowledge you receive in a Psychic Reading and your life is totally up to you!
