There are nine layers of the Mayan Step pyramid. And there are nine Steps of the explanation of the Mayan calendar on the Coba stone. Each layer has thirteen sections representing seven periods of light and six periods of dark. The light periods represent times of enlightenment and the dark periods represent times of applying enlightenment. The fifth period of each layer is significant. Other, more ancient cultures had a similar approach to explaining time and history using a seven day creation. The Maya is the most recent and consequently, has fresher information.
Each layer of the calendar focuses on a time frame of galactic history. Each layer starts at a specific time in the past and culminates on the calendar’s end date. The first layer starts 16.4 billion years in the past at the time of the Big Bang. Each of the 13 periods represented 1.26 billion years and each had a purpose. The formation of the Universe obviously began in the first period at the time of singularity. And earth’s solar system formed in the fifth period. The first single-celled life forms began in the thirteenth. This layer of the calendar is called the Cellular to reflect a significant development; that of consciousness and life it’s self. From the Big Bang to the present, Indians making clay pots in the humid jungles of the Yucatan were contemplating vast periods of time, that were later confirmed in the twentieth century. So, with a reading of each layer, one’s attention is drawn ever closer to a narrowing period of time. And as the time narrows, consciousness increases as if being drawn in by a vortex.
The second layer of the calendar begins 820 million years in the past and, once again, culminates in the present. Each period of time represents 63.4 million years. This layer is named Mammalian because of the presence of live births.
The third layer of the calendar begins 41 million years ago. Each period represents 3.2 million years. This layer is called the Familiar because of the development of family groups that are associated with primates.
The fourth layer of the calendar begins 2 million years ago. Each period represents 154, 000 years. This layer is called the Tribal because of the development of group cooperation.
The fifth layer of the calendar begins 102,000 years ago. Each period represents 7,800 years. This layer is called the Cultural because this is when organized farming developed.
The sixth layer of the calendar begins 5,125 years ago. The specific date is August 13, 3113 BCE. Each period represents 394 years. This layer is called the National as an ancient king married two cultures to become Egypt.
The seventh layer of the calendar begins in 1755 A.D. Each period represents 19.7 years. This layer is called Planetary with the development of global communications and the invention of the Internet in 1992.
The eighth layer of the calendar begins January 5, 1999. Each period represents 360 days. This layer is called Galactic because of the growing awareness of other worlds and solar systems.
The ninth layer of the calendar begins April 5, 2012. Each period represents 20 days. This layer is called Universal. And the future holds a significant event for those who will bear witness.
Time appears to be speeding up. This is an illusion. Time as a mode of measurement is constant, and it inexorably marches on. And the sensation of speeding up is not with regard to time, it is in fact with regard to creation. More and more stuff is happening in less and less time. And what one can experience today in a 360 day period in the 8th layer would take 19.7 years in the seventh and 394 years in the sixth. And consequently, what one would have experienced in the seventh layer taking 394 years would take 20 days in the ninth layer!
Within the first layer of the calendar, on the fifth period of light, the Solar System was formed followed by 2.6 billion years of cosmic bombardment. Earth’s source of water came from the collisions of comets. And a common theme of the Mayan calendar is a provision followed by a need. For life to exist on earth, water was required. The second layer witnessed life on land and subsequently its extinction, for the most part in the fifth period of light. Three percent of all earth bound life forms survived.
In the fifth period of layer three, color vision was developed. And in the fifth period of the fourth layer fire was discovered and used as a tool. Once again, just as a need is presented a provision is supplied, the Ice Age occurred in the next period.
In the fifth period of layer five, art was invented as a means of communication. The intent of the communication was to chronicle information for those to come. This intent and action was the first contemplations and conceptualizations of future. On the fifth night, Neanderthal became extinct because of their inability to change. Neanderthal had no concept of future, or planning, and thus had no future.
The realization of the Divine within each of us occurred in the fifth period of layer 6. Christ died and his message that we all have access to the source, without the need for an intercessor, defined each person as worthy, spiritual beings. The fifth night marked the fall of Rome after the exodus of the demigods, and the beginning of the Dark Ages. Once again, the provision was the concept that humanity possesses an internal, guiding light. And this followed by a time of need when each day was dark, bleak and troubling.
The seventh layer is a time of possibilities. From Einstein’s theory of Relativity and e=mc2 in 1913 liberating science from Newton’s pull, to Sir Edwin Hubble’s declaration of an infinite universe in 1924, the fifth period of light created a consciousness that everything is possible. The idea that everything is possible was supported by the conclusion that everywhere does exist. There was a degree of comfort in knowing one was a part of something much grander and indestructible and ongoing. And the fifth dark period marked the beginning of World War II and the atomic bomb, and the possibility of global destruction. Once again, a foundation of hope and encouragement was provided prior to the need when fear gripped the world.
The awareness that all things have consciousness is what is being experienced in the eighth layer. Both animate and inanimate things are becoming more revered. Rights were granted to earth’s life forms that had once been deemed as expendable. And these rights were afforded protection by civil and criminal laws. And protection of resources that were once considered inexhaustible is now being recognized and preserved. This level of consciousness stems from the realization that the pale blue dot on which all of life resides must live in harmony and balance. Galactic knowledge is increasing exponentially and ethics will define the age.
Layer nine is called the Universal. And life from beyond our planetary experience will be made known. Humanity will know without question we are not alone in the Cosmos.
